All of us at NorCal Poodle Rescue want to extend a heartfelt thanks to you for coming to our annual picnic at Tilden Park in July. In addition to record heat, we had a record attendance of 87 people and their fabulous Poodles! The dogs all seemed to have a grand time chasing each other in the meadow and cooling off in the little wading pool. Gail Chadbourne and Lyn Austen taught owners and their dogs how to navigate the agility course equipment. As expected, the Poodles all excelled at jumping through the tire and racing through the weave poles!
We were pretty horrified when the caterer, Smokey J's in Berkeley, did not show up. When called, he said the food would be a minimum of two hours late. We had been working with him on this event since May and had a signed contract with him giving the day, date, menu and price. He did refund our money after a couple of weeks and intervention by PayPal.
So we wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of you who had to leave but told us to keep their ticket money. Additional thanks to those who braved another hour of 91 degree heat waiting for the picnic that we put together racing up and down the aisles of the Orinda Safeway. We did not receive a single complaint and virtually every person told us to keep their ticket money.
As we drug the final round of supplies to our cars, we could not help talking about what an amazing group of supporters we have. We are very grateful. And just so you know, we are already scouting even "cooler" parks for next year...deep in the redwoods or right down by the water and all with places for the Poodles to play.
