Volunteer Opportunities at NorCal Poodle Rescue

We have a current need for transportation in the Sacramento/Stockton area who can drive a dog to a Foster home in the East Bay

TRANSPORTATION:  The poodles need rides to the vets and groomers. The kennel is in Concord and our vet is in Concord too. The bills go directly to our treasurer so you only have to be concerned with the dog. We can also use help transporting the dogs from the kennel to Pet Food Express in Walnut Creek for our adoption Days. We have loaner crates if you need one.

ADOPTION:  The adoptions staff introduces our poodles to their potential adopters. If all involved, adoptive family, adoptions staff and poodle agree, a match is made. Adoptions staff complete paperwork, acquaint adopters with the dog's needs, answer questions and provides adopters with the necessary paperwork. We usually request that any children or other pets in the home come along to make sure that everyone is going to get along. Very rewarding and fun to see the poodles go off with their new families! You will work with an experienced volunteer until you are comfortable doing this on your own or with a buddy.

HOTLINE:  The NCPR website/hotline is the lifeblood of our rescue organization. The hotline people monitor incoming email, phone messages, and applications on the website that come from people who want to adopt or surrender dogs.

The website is where people go to look for an adoptable poodle and fill out an adoption application form. Every person who submits this form is contacted by telephone for an interview so that we can help them select the poodle that best fits their living situation.  People and shelters who need to rehome their poodles also contact the hotline. This is very rewarding work and can be done from a home computer. We call it a hotline but it's really a website.  The hotline is an ideal way to have a big impact on helping rescue poodles without the need to live close to the kennel !! Training is provided and you will work with a team.

DOG WALKING AND SOCIALIZATION: Visit the dogs awaiting adoption at our  Concord, CA kennel to walk them and to spend some social time in the play yard. Help us assess the dogs' character and health. It's exercise with pay in wet kisses and cuddles.

FOSTER:  To be a foster an adult needs to be home at least half of the day to facilitate training the dog, in housebreaking routine and form walks. Foster will take the dog to medical appointments.
